With chiseled granite peaks towering above glacial turquoise ocean, Bute Inlet is the climax of BC’s wilderness coast. The scale and grandeur of the landscape rivals any in the world: bounded by British Columbia’s highest rugged mountains and13,200 ft Mt Waddington, this is Canada’s bigger and better Grand Canyon! Its also where Plutonic Power and General Electric propose Canada’s largest hydroelectric project.

 

Join Friends of Bute Inlet on a special 2-day tour to help protect this threatened wilderness.

MV Steep Island provides a comfortable water taxi to the head of Bute Inlet at the Homathko River valley. We’ve arranged accommodation at picturesque Homathko Logging Camp, and you will enjoy the spirited interpretations and local knowledge of wilderness guide, Rob Wood.

 

 

TOUR DATES: June 23-24; June 29-30; July 14-15; July 20-21; Aug 3-4; Aug 13-14;

Sept 7-8; Sept 10 -11; Sept 28-29.

 

ITINERARY

• Depart Campbell River 8:00 am on Day 1; Return 7:00 pm on Day 2

• Water taxi pick-up from Campbell River and Heriot Bay (8:30 am) on Quadra Island.

• Three hour boat cruise, exploring shoreline and sights of Bute Inlet.

• Guiding service with in-depth geographical and historical interpretation

• Land transportation from Homathko Camp: Drive up Homathko and Tequaharne valleys with

close up views of Hekamie and Jewakwa tributaries.

• Short hikes to local beauty spots.

 

LODGING at Homathko Camp is friendly and comfortable, with single and double rooms and

shared bathrooms. The food is excellent, served with back country hospitality.

*BYO Lunch for Day 1. Optional: BYO wine for dinner.

 

PRICE: $350 per person, includes transport, meals, accommodation and GST.

10% discount for booking full group of 12 people.
