ECO-TOURS:
Relax in the comfort aboard safe, fast and coastguard approved 28 foot zodiac type boats or covered water taxis that will transport you to the magic of Desolation Sound, Discovery Islands and Johnstone Strait. You will catch the spirit of the whale (orcas, minkes and grays), listen to the sea lions, frolic with the Pacific white-sided dolphins and see bears on the shore lines. Eagles and other water fowl are plentiful along these coast lines. You may also have the opportunity to see pictographs or petroglyphs, rock paintings and carvings, the physical records left by the aboriginal peoples of the coast.
KAYAKING:
We will get you kayaking even if you never have before with one of the wonderful local operators on Quadra Island. The day trips include lessons in paddling skills and safety. For the more experienced Kayaker it's the opportunity to see so many of the coast lines treasures up close and personal with a local guide. The possibilities of seeing seals, dolphins, otters, eagles and other water fowl await you. At the right time of year, Orcas have also been seen, an exhilarating experience! We can arrange to have you rent your own kayak but knowledge of the area and the local tides is essential.
DIVING:
"Second only to the Red Sea." is how Jacques Cousteau described this area. Steep Island's uniqueness and location make it one of the most spectacular dive sites on the entire coast. Licensed and insured dive masters can provide everything for an exciting and safe dive in Coast Guard approved boats. All the necessary dive equipment can be rented at one of several local dive shops. A valid diver's certification card and prior notice are required.

GOLFING:
There are two challenging golf courses within a half hour of Steep Island in Campbell River and several more south of town. They range from "executive style" to a championship designed par 72 course which is literally carved out of the rain forest and is rated as one of the best in B. C. We will arrange transportation, tee times, car and club rentals, no need to pack your clubs! We can also set up tournaments for a group or company. Where else can you catch salmon in the morning and finish the day with a great round of golf!
HIKING:
There is a 25 to 30 min walk/hike around Steep Island, which takes you through many little eco-systems, including some old growth forest and tide pools along the shore. Quadra Island and Campbell River are well known for their hiking trails. From extreme hiking to leisurely walks through the forest you will experience the magnificence of the west coast. We would be happy to give you any information on trails and popular hikes in the area.
The "things to do" list can go on and on, from aerial tours by helicopter or plane, to visiting salmon enhancement sites, Native Museums, and other local places of interest. In the fall a popular event is to snorkel down the Campbell River, as the Salmon are heading up river. It is an amazing ride! Don't forget your cameras, Discovery Passage and surrounding area is truly a photographers dream.
